Autism Awareness

The Occupational Course of Study (OCS) students are working towards developing the first School Based Enterprise (SBE) for IC Imagine! A School Based Enterprise is a simulated or actual business conducted by a school. It replicates a specific business and is a learning experience that provides direct links between classroom learning and the world of work. SBE provides students an opportunity to develop self confidence and leadership skills by increasing student awareness and connections between work and community well being. SBE promotes student pride in their work through relevant work related experiences. Students are given real practice in entrepreneurship, accounting, budgeting, cash-flow management, marketing, inventory control, and business/industry/technical skills. SBE gives students experience in problem solving, communication, interpersonal relations, and learning within the context of work.
This fundraising opportunity will help us to get started with our SBE. We want to spread our message throughout the IC Imagine community and into other homes in Western North Carolina.
April is Autism Awareness month! We would like for the IC Imagine Community to show their support and bring awareness to the challenges students with autism face on a daily basis by purchasing an Autism Awareness Spirit Wear t-shirt. We will participate in a group photo on 4/12/19 to show our solidarity. These t-shirts will also support Mr. Barton's goal of spreading the message of "Be Kind". The t-shirt we have chosen for Autism Awareness Month says, "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." All proceeds from shirt sales go to support the development of IC Imagine’s first SBE!!!
